Derby College of Further
Education were founder-members of Div. 2 in 1976, but withdrew in '79.
Re-entered Div. 2 (in a
different form) in 1984, as Derby Turbos. Became Derby Rams in 1985; promoted to
the top division (as runners-up) in 1986.
Became Derby Bucks in 1991. In 1993
withdrew from BBL, due to financial problems, but "rescued" and allowed to
re-enter before the new season began.
Became Derby Storm in 1995.
First
club to own their own venue.
Given
permission to "sit out" 2002-2003 season, to generate finance and find
alternative venue. Have not returned since, and franchise with BBL has now
lapsed.

|
FACILITIES:
Large
building, which looks like a factory - which is not surprising,
as that's exactly what it used to be.
Storm
Arena, inside, is compact, and crowded, with tiered seating
crammed into all the available space around the sides of the
court.
Excellent,
noisy atmosphere.
Good,
though spartan, bar area on ground floor (for intervals). Much
more spacious bar upstairs (through small bar) for after-match.
Go-karting
available on site!
