to J29, turn off onto A48M which
becomes
Eastern Avenue (A48).
At 5th exit, turn left and join A4119.
Follow this road as Cardiff Road gives way to
Penhill Road, and eventually
Cathedral Road. Follow this road and turn
left at traffic lights into Sophia Close,
which leads to Sophia Gardens.

Large multi-sports building,
which includes large basketball hall. Cafeteria on site.
I don't think there's a bar -
but there's a pub right next to the Car Park. |
Cae'r Castell were
admitted to NBL 1 in 1987, but relegated to new NBL 2 in '88.
Became Cardiff Bay
Buccaneers, '89, reverting to Cae'r Castell in 1990. Promoted in '91
(from 3rd place).
Became Cardiff Heat in
'92. In 1994 they were admitted to the BBL (from 3rd in NBL 1), and thus
withdrew from NBL. Proposed move didn't come off, and so re-entered NBL 2
as Cardiff Phoenix. Promoted back to NBL 1 (as winners of NBL 2) in '95.
Expelled from NBL in 1999.
Readmitted in 2002 and 2004,
but withdrew pre-season on both occasions.
Readmitted again (to EBL3) in
2005,
but yet again withdrew, three weeks before the start of the season.
