History:
Ware Fire entered NBL Division 3 in
1997, after the previous Ware franchise was moved to Stevenage.
Using the experience they had gained
over the years, the club won promotions in 2000, 2001 and 2002, to regain a
place in the top EBL division (by now having adopted the previous name, Ware
Rebels).
After two seasons, in 2004, the team merged
with "Leopards Alive" (an organisation of supporters of the now-defunct London
Leopards), to become the Essex and Herts Leopards, with games shared
between Ware's venue, Wodson Park, and the Leopards' old home, The Brentwood
Centre.
In 2005, Wodson Park was dropped, in
favour of Goresbrook Leisure Centre - closer to their main Brentwood venue, and
then in 2006 the team changed its name, to London Leopards, while
concentrating even more of their games at Goresbrook. In 2007 they returned to
Wodson Park.
