HISTORY:

The very successful London Towers BBL franchise had an earlier "nursery" team in the NBL, back in the 1990s, which had separated from the parent club, and gone on to achieve success in its own right, as Hackney White Heat.

Towers continued their own excellent Junior development programme, and when, in 2005, their Under-18s were Final Four runners-up and their Under-20s were U-20 Cup Finalists for the second time, they entered a second team into the new EBL Division 3, as the Under-20 competition was discontinued.

The Team competed well in the division and due to a narrow loss early in the season, finished 2nd in the EBL3 (South East) in their first season.

When Towers I took their "sabbatical", in 2006, the division 3 team effectively became the first team. With a second place finish again, and an appearance in the Championship Final, there was a chance that they might have been promoted, but, with their home court at the National Sports Centre, Crystal Palace, due to close for refurbishment for much of the 2007-8 season, they remained in Division 3 for a third year.

By this time it was clear that Towers "1" were unlikely to re-emerge (though they had, apparently considered entering European competition, until realising that all such contestants must also be playing in domestic competition), and so the erstwhile second-team can now be considered as the club's first string.

Towers have a team at all age groups boys, girls, women’s and men playing County and National league. Over the years the programme has produced many players for area, regional and National squads representing both England and Wales, competing in European Championships. Three Towers Juniors attend, or have attended, High School in the US, while another plays for an academy team in Spain.
