VENUE:

During the refurbishment of Crystal Palace NSC, up until June 2008, London Towers' home games (Men and Women) will be played at:

Fusion Leisure, Harris Girls' Academy East Dulwich, Homestall Road, London SE22 0NR        Tel.: 0207-732-2276

Take A205 (South Circular Road) from East or West, to the area of Dulwich Common / Forest Hill.

At the boundary between Southwark and Lewisham, next to Horniman Gardens, turn North off the A205 (called London Road at this point) into Wood Vale.

At T-junction, turn left on B238 into Forest Hill Road. Take fourth turn to the right, into Colyton Road, next to Peckham Rye Park. Follow this road, continuing as it joins Homestall Road, and the Sports Centre is on the right, at the next T-junction (in the grounds of the school).

CRYSTAL PALACE NATIONAL SPORTS CENTRE, Ledrington Road, Upper Norwood, London SE19 2BL.

From North: M1 to Junction 1, left on A406 then right onto A41 as far as Swiss Cottage. In one-way system go straight on, to  Regents Park, then left onto A5205 as far as Camden. Follow A4200 (Camden High St.) past Euston Station; cross Euston Road onto A420. Cross Waterloo Bridge and follow A301 to Elephant & Castle; A3 then A23 through Brixton to Streatham. Turn left into Streatham Common and follow A214 through to Crystal Palace.

From South: M23 then A23 towards Croydon. A232 to Croydon, and A212 to Crystal Palace.

FACILITIES:

CPNSC: Excellent setting within the grounds of the National Sports Centre.

Bleacher seating on either side of the court - seating one side, wooden benches the other.

Can become very humid, due to the swimming pool within the same air-space.

As I remember (a few years ago now!) the bar is pretty good (if it's open), but there are few cafe facilities. However, you're spoilt for choice for eating and drinking outside the complex, in any of four directions!

HISTORY:

Crystal Palace were admitted directly into NBL1 in 1979, and remained there until 1991, when, a year after the men's team withdrew from the League, the women's team was taken over and moved to Thames Valley.

In 1995, with a men's team back in the league, a Crystal Palace women's team re-entered, into NBL 2. Promoted (from 2nd place) after one season. Finished last in 1998, but stayed in NBL1 when the whole club "merged" with London Towers (and continued to play at CPNSC).

Relegated in 2000. Just missed qualifying for EBL1 from Regional Qualifying leagues in 2004, but then won EBL2 South, and promotion, in 2005.

Relegated, and withdrew, in 2008.
