HISTORY:

Having already run a successful development programme, with teams in the RAF National Leagues, West Herts entered senior competition, in EBL Division 3, in 2003.

A successful first season secured fourth place in the Southern section of the Division, and promotion to EBL Division 2.

The second season was even more successful, as they secured third place in the higher division, and reached the Championship Final. The Warriors declined the invitation to take a place in EBL1, preferring to remain in EBL2 to continue to establish the club.

That led to a League title success in 2005-6, and a second consecutive (losing) visit to the Championship Final, which was followed by promotion to EBL1, and the establishment of a second team, in EBL4.

A good initial campaign in EBL1 saw them finish in mid-table, with an even 11&11 record, and hopes were high that they would be able to build on that for the 2007-8 season. However, right at the start of the season, their major sponsor, who was about to make a £10,000 payment for the season, went into administration. This resulted in an immediate cash-flow problem, and although the players did all they could (waiving their contracted fees, for instance), no alternative potential sponsor could be found, and, faced with the probability of a huge shortfall if they continued, the club had no alternative but to withdraw their first team from competition.

Applied to re-enter EBL1 for 2008-9, but placed instead in EBL4 - one division below West Herts II ! Declined to take up the "offer".
