29/05/08 Jelson Homes have announced that they are extending their sponsorship of the Leicester Basketball Club for another two years, on similar terms as for the 2007/08 season. The announcement comes within a month of the end of the playing season, where Riders missed out on a play-off spot. Robert Jelley, Managing Director of Jelson Homes said, "We have been very pleased with our first year with the Club, and, in particular, their great work in the schools of Leicester and Leicestershire in their Hoops4Health program. The enthusiasm of the children for the program and basketball is a great pointer for the future. We hope our early commitment to the Club for the next two years will allow them to get on with the detailed planning for next season. We will also be working with the Club to address other challenges, including those related to their playing facilities." Riders General Manager Russell Levenston said, "The Club is absolutely delighted for Jelson Homes' continued support to the Club. They stepped forward last September when the Club was at a critical juncture and they have provided tremendous support throughout the season. The Club is now in its best position for a number of years. We are obviously disappointed with our playing results last season, but this agreement will allow us to get on with the planning for next season immediately. We expect to make announcements in this regard in the next few weeks." Riders will continue to play as Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders for the next two season. Fixtures are expected to be released by the British Basketball League in mid June.
