SCOTLAND WARM UP TO HOST EUROPEAN DIVISION C

05/06/08

In just under a fortnight's time, Scotland play host to the European Championships Division C, in Edinburgh. This is the new name for the "European Promotion Cup", to bring it formally into the existing structure with Divisions A and B of the Championships, and it is the first event of the Summer's big International programme.

The Scots have a good record in the "Promotion Cup", having finished in bronze medal position (third) in 2000, 2002 and 2004 in the biennial Tournament, and, as hosts this year, they are determined to put on a good showing.

Their squad is in full preparation for the event, and as part of that build-up they're taking part in a Tournament this coming weekend at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre, hosted by Durham Wildcats.

The Wildcats, who now have strong links with Durham University, with an Academy team having been entered into Division 4 next season,  have also invited an English Universities team, and the full schedule for the weekend is:

Saturday 07-June:

5.00pm      England Universities      v          Scotland

7.00pm      Scotland                         v          Durham Wildcats

Sunday 08-June:

2.00pm      England Universities      v          Scotland

4.00pm      England Universities      v          Durham Wildcats

Travel directions to Newton Aycliffe may be found on the Durham Wildcats Directory page, and the full schedule for Division C of the European Championships is on the European fixtures/results page.
